Fuck Yeah! Jean Baudrillard!

svenvlaa asked: silicon valley is glorious and i have been consistently impressed by its ability to balance dick jokes with intelligent jokes/references

Silicon Valley was a very important concept to Jean Baudrillard but also one of the funniest new TV shows ever. Their dick jokes would make Baudrillard laugh. As a rising Industrial and Systems Engineer, I find the show extra funny.

Time is a sphere, and I have been reincarnated in the same time at which I exist!

-Erlich Bachmann on the HBO series Silicon Valley

"Ségalan says that once the Earth has become a sphere, every movement distancing us from a point by the same token also begins to bring us closer to that point. This is true of time as well. Each apparent movement of history brings us imperceptibly closer to its anti-podal point, if not indeed to its starting point. This is the end of linearity. In this perspective, the future no longer exists. But if there is no longer a future, there is no longer an end either. So this is not even the end of history. We are faced with a paradoxical process of reversal, a reversive effect of modernity which, having reached its speculative limit, and extrapolated all its virtual developments, is disintegrating into its simple elements in a catastrophic process of recurrence and turbulence." -Jean Baudrillard, The Illusion of the End

If anyone has a paper they need to write on Jean Baudrillard and his theories, I would suggest looking at the TV show Silicon Valley

Smile and others will smile back. Smile to show how transparent, how candid you are. Smile if you have nothing to say. Most of all, do not hide the fact you have nothing to say nor your total indifference to others. Let this emptiness, this profound indifference shine out spontaneously in your smile.

I’m assuming this is a debaters sight, and today we hit a team who ran this or should I say sang this.

This is in fact a debater and I do in fact read this along with a rap version, so it doesn’t really surprise me.
